
MORGAN NELSON | SVBS 2001-2007
Morgan Nelson is the daughter of Lucia Nelson and dances with the Festival Ballet of Providence, Rhode Island.
She is a graduate (Class of 2015) of Princeton University, where she majored in Slavic Studies and Russian Literature, with certificates (minors) in Russian and Dance. While she has been dancing since before she could walk, she proudly attended her first ballet class at the age of 3. Since then her dancing has led her down many exciting, unpredictable paths. This includes performances in ballets such as Coppella, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, and The Nutcracker with the Sun Valley Ballet School with Nikoloz Makhateli and Miss Sherry Horton .
She has also performed for V&T Dance and the Golden State Dance Foundation dancing in The Nutcracker, The Seven Beauties and others. More recently, she has had the opportunity to take classes from teachers such as Vladimir Malakhov, Larissa and Gennadi Saveliev, Ivan Vasiliev, Gelsey Kirkland, and Susan Jaffe.
Morgan placed in the Top 12 of the Youth America Grand Prix for her solo from La Fille Mal Gardee in 2010 and received the same honor for her solo from Giselle in 2011. She also received a scholarship to Ballet West’s summer intensive for her performance in the competition.
While dancing with the Princeton University Ballet (PUB) she served as Vice-President and Gear Chair. She performed pieces such as Carmen, and La V. Valno as well as her thesis performance choreographed by Lars Lubovich.
She has returned to dance with The Sun Valley Ballet School, as recently as the summer of 2015, enjoying the intensive with David Norwood and Carl Askew.
